🌠 #212 Christmas, hiking, and growth
Dear friends, we had a joyful reunion
at Christmas, probably for the last time in the next few years. Lucas arrived in time for the celebrations. Our latest podcast episode is about how Lena and I experienced Christmas as children and what we took away from it.

I took the cover photo for this newsletter on a hike a few days ago. Take that with you for 2026.
No matter how difficult the circumstances are, you can shine—for Jesus. There is always hope. And an opportunity to grow.
1 billion Bibles in your pocket

A few weeks ago, the Bible App made history. It is by far the most frequently installed Bible app. More than 1 billion people have it on their smartphones. Lena and I have been publishing Bible reading plans there for years. Over the years, more than 27,000 readers have downloaded and read our inputs. This year, there were almost 6,000.

Food for thought
An article by Klaus-Dieter John that is well worth reading.

Three unforgettable months
As a hospital, we regularly have young doctors from Peru training in our departments. At the end of the year, Maisa, my resident, will move on. Over the past few months, she has mainly learned transurethral surgery. At the same time, the young mother has been a real help to the entire hospital and to me. I will miss her. It is always a give and take. Once again, there is a medical professional who has learned at Diospi Suyana and will be a blessing to her country.

Children's cinema and Christmas carols
In the days before Christmas, there was once again a lot on offer for the community. Lena was mainly involved in this. She organized a movie night, an afternoon of Christmas carols, and, last but not least, the Christmas service with a nativity play. These were unforgettable moments for our children as well.

Nativity play. Technology. Christmas service. Songs. Cinema
Different countries, different customs

Christmas market. Underwear. Panettone
This is what the Christmas market in Curahuasi looks like. There are plastic toys, alcohol, panettone, a typical Christmas pastry, and yellow underpants. In Peru, yellow underpants are given as gifts on New Year's Eve because this color is said to bring good luck, prosperity, and positive energy for the new year. Because Christmas and New Year's Eve are close together, you can already find them at the Christmas market.
Hike with the children
These days we were on the highest mountain in our district. At over 4100m, you have a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain peaks. A real natural spectacle. But really hard to hike at that altitude.

Hike at an altitude of over 4100m.
Thank you for your loyalty in 2025. Only with your help is this possible.
Warm regards from Peru 🇵🇪,
Dr. Benjamin Zeier with Lena and the children
